Río Claro Canyon and La Danta Waterfalls: A Magical Journey in Magdalena Medio

Day 1

We will travel very early from Bogotá to Puerto Triunfo where we will raft in Río Claro, sail to an impressive marble winery and have exciting adventures to the El Tigrillo reserve. In the afternoon we will go to our accommodation.

Day 2

We will have breakfast in the morning and then embark on a route of adventure and mystery in the middle of a karst forest where we will visit a Guacharos cave, learn about these fascinating species and embark on our adventure to some waterfalls with majestic waterfalls. At the end of the afternoon we will return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 3

We will get up early to have breakfast, then we will be immersed in the Río Claro Natural Reserve, we will have lunch in this beautiful place, we will walk in the reserve, we will have spaces to take a refreshing swim, then we will be back to Bogotá and we will finish the adventure.

This is a place where marble extraction is carried out, however thanks to the work of its inhabitants and some environmental authorities, part of the karst forest in the region has been preserved. Underground paradises are hidden here, such as its active caves and caverns, and in the middle of the thick forest there are impressive waterfalls with amazing landscapes where tourists can have a refreshing swim and some incredible photos.

Rio Claro Canyon

Within an impressive tropical humid forest is the marble canyon crossed by the crystalline Claro River, a space where the flora and fauna classify endemism and unique characteristics of this place, there are trails around the river, caverns for people to more adventurous take a moment of adrenaline. This beautiful place offers epic landscapes that enchant everyone who dares to visit where you can enjoy its crystalline waters and contemplate the work of art of water on the enormous marble slabs that are found along the canyon.

🧢 Wear a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun. It is important to use sunscreen, remember to use a mineral sunscreen for your face.

👕 Pack light clothes, enough for hot land for two days. We suggest long pants and a long-sleeved shirt since during the walks we will encounter trees with long branches and this will help us avoid scratches. It is also important to bring a raincoat in case of rain and a towel for personal use.

🩱Don't forget to pack your swimsuit and your personal towel.

🥾 Wear comfortable shoes, preferably hiking shoes, in any case avoid ballet shoes or fabric tennis shoes. It is important to bring a change of shoes in case your shoes get wet during the tour.

💊 Bring your medications and personal documents (medical insurance card and ID), there are no ATMs in the area. Therefore, we suggest bringing the cash you consider necessary for your personal expenses.

🎒 Do not use a wheeled suitcase and carry an additional kangaroo or small backpack so you can take your personal items on walks.

🔦 We suggest bringing a blanket for the cold in the early morning when leaving Bogotá, repellent and a flashlight.
