The PNN Sierra de La Macarena has its origins in the Biological Reserve of La Macarena (1948), it includes the most extensive geological survey towards the west of the Guayanès Shield, with an average extension of 130 kilometers long by 30 wide called “Sierra de La Macarena”. The Macarena". Its 629,280 ecosystems include humid jungles, flooded forests, scrublands and herbaceous vegetation of the Amazonian sheet.
It is an extraordinary area due to its isolated mountain conditions, which suggests the presence of unique species and an important index of diversity in flora and fauna. You can also see archaeological samples on the Duda and Guayabero rivers, where petroglyphs and pictograms of indigenous cultures that inhabited the area are found.
Day 1
We will travel from Bogotá to San Juan de Arama. Here we will change to 4x4 cars to travel by road to the municipality of Macarena.
Day 2
We will have an adventure trip along a trail between primary forests and livestock farms. Our goal is to reach the Serranía de la Macarena to enjoy one of its most wonderful places, Caño Canoas.
Day 3
The objective of this day will be to visit the 7 machos canyon in the Serranía de la Macarena.
Day 4
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will take a tour in vans to visit the trail assigned by Cormacarena and National Parks according to permit. Note: Different places are visited each day, they never give the same trail twice. If you travel on bridges on the last day you will not visit Caño Cristales according to regulations of the environmental entities (ABC) they will have activities in alternate places:
