This is a journey through the history of Colombia. We will leave Bogotá to Mariquita but before we will make two stops, the first in Guaduas and the second in Honda (both national heritage towns). We will discover the historic center of Honda with a guided tour of the best of this beautiful municipality. We will also have a meeting with Mariquita, the historic town that hosts the Royal Botanical Expedition,

The second day will be reserved for the Lost City of Falan, 17th century ruins of the Royal Mines of Santa Ana. Great figures of Colombian history such as José Celestino Mutis, Francisco José de Caldas, Alexander Van Humbolt and Simón passed through this site. Bolívar, among others. Tunnels, walls and stone cellars are still preserved from this mining city that was lost in the jungle. We will also enjoy a beautiful trail on the edge of the beautiful Quebrada Morales surrounded by lots of nature.

Day 1

We will leave from Bogotá to Mariquita, but along the way we will make two stops in two Colombian Heritage towns, Guaduas and Honda. In Honda we will take a city tour to discover the secrets of the most important port on the Magdalena River. A large part of the merchandise that came from Europe entered through here, as well as the products that left from Colombia. Its streets still retain part of the splendor of the time. Afterwards we will go to Mariquita, headquarters of the royal Botanical expedition. Here we will learn the secrets of the first investigation of the fauna and flora of our continent.

Day 2

We will enjoy a natural bath in the mysterious Lost City of Falan. We will walk a path to enjoy nature and discover the history and archeology that the Santa Ana mines keep, one of the sites of greatest exploitation of gold and silver in the colonial era, declared Historical Heritage of Tolima.

The trail goes along the bank of a river passing three spectacular waterfalls and several pools of crystal clear water where you can bathe. We will also go through three tunnels and visit the ruins of the Lost City of Falan.

Honda Municipality

The historic center of Honda in Tolima is a place that keeps 480 years of history. A city achieved great development due to its strategic location on the banks of the Magdalena River, the only possible means of trade with the interior of the country. A place that keeps the splendor of the colonial era.

Mariquita Municipality

It was founded on August 28, 1551, and served as the headquarters of the Royal Botanical Expedition, ordered by King Carlos III, under the direction of the Cadiz wise man José Celestino Mutis, who directed the study of the flora of the place, together with Creole scientists such as Francisco José de Caldas.

Lost City of Falán - Santa Ana Mines

The small town famous for its ancient mining exploitation. The road initially goes through a part of the immense valley that extends between the Guaduas and paramos mountain ranges (Herveo, Quindío) towards Neiva. An area of heavy gold and silver exploitation during the colonial era.
